With an exclusive launch at Sephora on the horizon, we worked with the founding hanni team to revisit their packaging and ensure it was retail-ready.

As a D2C brand from launch, the packaging was streamlined and bold but not ready to scale at brick-and-mortar retail. Impactful changes to foundational brand elements like typography and color, along with meaningful copy additions and revisions, help the brand sell better on-shelf.

As an ongoing partner, we work on all of hanni’s new product launches. Continued work includes new primary and secondary packaging for each new product, art direction + photoshoots for packaging (and otherwise!), along with design for the products themselves.

Translating direct-to- consumer packaging for retail at Sephora.

CREATING A SYSTEM

The first item to address was to create a design system that would suit brick-and-mortar retail. We kept the essence of the original D2C packaging and implemented meaningful updates to the design and content hierarchy, ensuring the system could scale with the brand’s rapid growth.

As an example, the brand’s palette and color-blocked design was pulled one level up – instead of multiple colors on each box, colors were shifted to represent product types. This change benefits both the brand and consumer: packaging production, in-store navigation, and visual merchandising all become easier and more intuitive.

And, knowing that many consumers’ first interaction with the brand would be in-aisle at Sephora, we took a fresh look at copy. We quadrupled what was on-pack while maintaining a streamlined look & feel; brand sentiments are mixed with customer education, giving first-time consumers a clear idea of who hanni - and what the product - is.

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES

As an ongoing partner, we continue to work on product development and line extensions with the hanni team.

Complementary body products to their signature razor have been a focus of new launches. We’ve worked on everything from primary and secondary packaging design through custom print & pattern design for new product development — including their first body accessory, the Shower Scarf.
